Abstract

ABSTRACT: PT. Kilang Pertamina Internasional RU III Plaju is one of the 6 Refinery Units consisting of two main processes, namely the Primary Process and the Secondary Process. In principle, the HVU II processing process at PT. Kilang Pertamina Internasional RU III is carried out by separating fractions based on differences in boiling points and at vacuum pressure. In the HVU II Unit, there is a furnace used in the process of separating oil fractions. Based on the analysis of mass and heat balance calculations on operational data observed from August 27 - October 15, 2024, the average thermal efficiency value obtained was 81.97%. The lowest efficiency was in the period of 78.96%, and the highest was 84.06%, while the thermal efficiency value of the F-14-001 furnace in the design data was 85%. The value of furnace efficiency is influenced by several factors, including the level of excess O2, feed flow rate, and heat loss produced. Large heat losses are caused by the large amount of heat lost to the flue gas and the environment, reducing the furnace's thermal efficiency. Therefore, inspections and maintenance are necessary to ensure the Air Preheater (APH) is still functioning properly, as well as to consider the air-to-fuel ratio for optimal combustion..
